Religious affairs correspondent Stephen Bates is in Dar es Salaam, where leaders of the Anglican church are meeting. He says there’s little room for compromise between the church’s liberal and conservative wings. Even before the impending schism, the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury is faint.
